Update (28 July 2021): Berri Barmera Council libraries and council offices have re-opened today after the end of the 7 day state wide lockdown.
Both our Berri and Barmera Libraries have re-opened today, Wednesday 28th July 2021.
We are happy and excited to be open again and we know our customers are desperate for more reading material. When using our libraries please follow the current COVID-19 restrictions which include:
- 1 person per 4 square meters in internal spaces (which may impact on numbers that can attend library programs or activities).
- staff and customers must wear masks.
- no singing (which will effect our children’s activities).
- regular hand sanitising and please maintain 1.5m distancing with others.
Remember, you can still access our digital services like Libby, Borrow box and Press Reader. Digital Services and instructions are located here (or scroll down this page for additional information).

Latest Update (20 July 2021): Berri Barmera Council libraries and council offices will be closed from 5pm tonight due to the state wide down lockdown that begins at 6pm today!
Both our Berri and Barmera Libraries are still open for today only (Tuesday 20th July) but staff and customers must wear masks.
To all our borrowers, we have taken a few steps to make your time during lockdown a lot easier:-

- Item due dates will be automatically changed to Wednesday, 4th August 2021
- Membership expiry dates that are due to expire will be automatically changed until the end of September, so that borrowers will still be able use the Digital Library
- Hold pick up dates will be extended for 21 days across the SA Public Library network
- All overdue and hold notices will be suspended
Remember, while we are closed, you can still access our digital services like Libby, Borrow box and Press Reader. Digital Services and instructions are located here (or scroll down this page for additional information).
At this stage, due to the 7 day lock down, we will not be offering any library home delivery or phone and collect services.

Both our Berri and Barmera Libraries are open again and have resumed normal opening hours from Monday 23rd November.

Latest Update (18 November 2020): Berri Barmera Council Libraries closed for the next 6 days! State Government imposing ‘circuit-breaker’ restrictions to combat latest COVID-19 cluster.
Both our Berri and Barmera Libraries are now closed due to the 6 day COVID-19 shut-down as advised by the South Australian Government. This closure runs from Thursday 19th November 2020 until Tuesday 24th November 2020. At this stage we plan to open again on the morning of Wednesday 25th November. The situation is fluid and after re-opening there may be extra restrictions in place but we will update these when we find out more.
Any library items due over this 6 days closure period will be automatically extended.

Latest Update (29 June 2020): Step 3 of the State Government easing of COVID-19 restrictions. Libraries are no longer required to have a COVID-19 Safe plan.
People must still maintain physical distancing of 1.5 m.
Customers should not attend if unwell.
Upon entry and exit customers should sanitise their hands.
Internet bookings have been extended to 1 hour with 1 booking allowed per day.
Customers can stay longer in the library but are still encouraged to minimize their time on site and contact tracing for normal library visits is no longer required.
Meetings are permitted but attendees need to record their details with us for contact tracing.
Not all activities have recommenced. Contact your local library for more information.

Latest Update (26 May 2020): We are excited to announce that we have been given permission by the Department for Education to extend the opening hours of the Berri Library to what they were pre-COVID-19 pandemic. Please check here for our normal opening hours.

Latest Update (14 May 2020): We are pleased to announce that we are re-opening our libraries for public access under the current State Government three-step approach to lifting the COVID-19 restrictions across South Australia.
The Berri Library, because it is a joint use library that also services school clients from Glossop High School, will open for public access from 3.30pm in the afternoon of Friday 15th May.
Our Barmera Library will open from 9.30am on Monday 18th May.

Family History and Ancestry.com Access
Ancestry.com is a great online resource that you can usually only access from your local SA Public Library or by paying for a personal subscription yourself. GREAT NEWS! As the COVID-19 crisis has meant many libraries have had to close to the public, the vendor has provided remote access to this product until the end of May.

Ancestry Library Edition provides access to an extensive range of genealogical resources from the United States and United Kingdom, including census, vital, church, court, and immigration records. It also provides limited Australian coverage.

How to Reset Your Own PIN
You may have realised that you need to know your own borrower number (located on the back of your borrower card starting with X0——-) and your assigned PIN to access our digital services like Libby and PressReader. If you need us to make you a PIN or to reset it, please contact us between 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Alternatively you can reset your PIN yourself if you already know your borrower number just by visiting the Enterprise catalog page. Click on “My Account/Renew Items” at the top of the page which will bring up a log-in box with the option to reset your PIN. Using this option will send a recovery link to your email address.
Mobile Devices and IT Help
Phone us at either the Berri or Barmera Library (phone Berri Library on 8595-2666 or Barmera Library on 8588-2872) if you would like some help with any IT issues or problems. We have some talented and knowledgeable staff who will do their best to help you (at no cost).
