Our Facilities

Barmera Library & Council Customer Service Centre

The Barmera Library has a comfortable lounge area at the rear of the building on the upper floor. Here you can read newspapers and magazines or move to a table and use our free wireless internet access via your laptop.

A newly developed outside courtyard on the upper level is used for children’s activities, school group visits and other events. Come and see the pirate ship in the children’s area or have fun on our iPads!

Council services are available from the front office desk and all council payments can be made here including rates, dog registrations, building development application fees, busking fees and general council enquiries.

A colour photocopier/scanner is available for public use – fees are payable at the desk.
Public toilets and baby change facilities are located at the back of the library.

Berri Library

Reading Room – This is an enclosed room on the northern wall of the Library. It was originally designed as an area for individual quiet reading and/or study and is still available for this use. However, we have now installed a fixed pull down screen and data projector, so it can be used for training, interviews and presentations. It is furnished with 4 tables & 20 chairs and a portable whiteboard. To book, please telephone the library on 0885 952666, email berrilibrary@bbc.sa.gov.au or ask at the circulation desk.

Meeting Room – A meeting room is available for use by all members of the community. It is an enclosed, glass fronted room located on the western wall of the library. It seats 10 comfortably around an oblong table. There is a computer outlet, 42″ LCD touchscreen with DVD player, whiteboard and an urn that can be used for tea break facilities, on request. This area is available for bookings at any time within our opening hours. It is used extensively by groups for seminars, meetings and small group work.
To book, please telephone the library on 0885 952666, email berrilibrary@bbc.sa.gov.au or ask at the circulation desk.

Private Study Room – This room is fitted out with a variety of furniture options including high and low tables, benches, carrels and couch seating for 40 people.  It also has an in-built data projector and sound system. This is primarily a school used room so it is only available for bookings after school hours from 3.30pm Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings. It is also available during school holiday periods.

Study Area – This is an open space with tables and seating for 32 and is predominately used by students from Berri Regional Secondary College. It is available for bookings anytime outside school hours. We have often set this area up with just chairs for formal presentations, but we need at least 24 hours notice to do this. It is preferable that the user be involved in the set up so that chairs, lecturns etc are placed according to needs. A pod of four computers with Internet access can be utilised as part of this area.

Equipment Loans for Community Groups – A data projector and portable screen is available for short-term loan to Berri Barmera Council community groups and non-profit organisations. This is a FREE service but an indemnity form must be completed by the office bearers of each group or organisation prior to loan. Please contact the library to arrange this.

Displays – Sometimes displays are erected in the front foyer of the library. If you have any suggestions for display topics or would like to erect a display please see the Library Manager.
